How much Italian packaging EPR costs

Three layers: CONAI's €5.16 joining share, its contribution per kilo by material, and a representative's fee. What each provider publishes, and a worked example for a small seller.

Last checked: 14 October 2026 — the date every statement on this page was checked against the sources below.

Quick answer

Three layers. CONAI's joining share, €5.16 once. CONAI's contribution per kilo by material — €0.045/kg for mono-material cardboard, €0.051–0.922/kg for plastic from 1 October 2026. And the representative's fee, which is the only part providers compete on: published prices run from our €199 to about €790 a year.

Layer 1: CONAI's joining share

€5.16, paid once when you join.

Layer 2: the environmental contribution

Per tonne, by material, published by CONAI. The spread is wide: plastic in band C costs more than twenty times mono-material cardboard. See every rate.

Packaging a yearContribution
50 kg of cardboardabout €2.25
200 kg of cardboard and 20 kg of plastic at the highest band (C)about €9 + €18 = €27
1 tonne of cardboard€45

Layer 3: the representative

What providers charge to be your Italian address and representative and to file for you. Published prices, read on 14 October 2026, are in the provider price dataset. Two things to watch: an allowance of a few hundred kilos included in the fee, and entry prices limited to Amazon.

Putting it together

A small seller shipping 200 kg of cardboard and 20 kg of plastic a year through Amazon.it pays, with us, €199 + €5.16 once + about €27 in contribution in the first year. Amazon's Pay on Behalf, if you also keep it, charges €25 per category per year on top of the contribution for the units it covers.

Selling into Italy without an Italian company?

Amazon.it asks for your CONAI number, and CONAI asks a foreign company for an Italian address. We are both, for €199 a year.
