Plastic in band C costs €0.922/kg, more than twenty times mono-material paper and cardboard at €0.045/kg. For an e-commerce seller shipping in plastic mailers, switching to paper-based packaging is the single largest lever on the bill — far larger than the choice of representative. ## Plastic, by band CONAI sorts plastic packaging into bands by how well it is sorted and recycled. From 1 October 2026: a flat €131 per tonne of packaging (“per tara”), or a share of the value of the goods — 0.25% for food and 0.11% for non-food (“a valore”).
